PBL Parent Information Night, Thursday, November 29, 2018, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

We are holding our second annual Project Based Learning (PBL) Parent Information Night.  Last year’s event was showing you what PBL is by presenting a number of activities for parents to engage in and understand the experiences your children were having in class.

This year, we are going to focus our information on how we plan and structure these experiences for our students.  Here is the itinerary for the evening.

6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.:  All parents will assemble in the gym to hear a presentation from Mr. Tinnes about Project Based Learning.  The main focus of the presentation will be on why we are committed to PBL at our school and how we are making a difference in your child’s learning.

6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.:  All parents are invited to do a “gallery walk” to see a variety of completed PBL projects from last year.  Our junior and intermediate students will be explaining the different projects and why these experiences are having a long lasting impact on their learning.  Our FDK and primary teachers will be setting up displays outlining one or two of the projects that the students completed as well as showing parents what PBL project the students are currently working on.  Teachers will also provide a chart to outline the cross curricular expectations for these particular projects.  All of the the displays will be set up in the gym, music room and the Learning Commons.

We look forward to seeing all of you next Thursday evening at Groh.
