We trust that all of our students and families have had a wonderful summer holiday.  We hope that you created some lasting memories with the many activities and journeys that took place over the summer.  The weather certainly cooperated this year!

In preparation for the first day of school, we want to briefly share with you some information.

If you have recently moved into the area and you have not yet registered your child for school, please come in to the school and do so during the week of August 27th.  We want to ensure that every child is placed in a class on the first day of school.

Class lists will NOT be posted on the doors of the school.  As a result of recent changes to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection to Privacy Act, teachers will be sending home an introductory letter via School-Day on Friday, August 31st AFTER 3:00 p.m.  The students will know who their teacher is and they will be able to find them at the school on Tuesday morning, outside the school.

In the event you are new to the School and not yet signed up for School-Day, or if you do not use School-Day, class information will be available on the first day of school. Teachers will have the class lists available on the morning of September 4 to help determine the location of your child’s classroom.

All staff and students will be walking to school on Tuesday, September 4th, similar to what we did last year.  Staff will be placed at different intersections around the community.  (see attached map) The staff will be wearing their Groh baseball t-shirts.  Please locate the closest intersection to where you live from the map and be there at the appointed time.  All students and staff are all going to arrive at the school at the same time.  Once we have arrived, teachers will be holding placards that identify who they are.  We will post class lists on Tuesday morning outside the back of the school.  We respectfully ask that all parents remain outside and refrain from coming into the school with their children.

We will be holding a Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, September 6th from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  You will have an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and tour the school at that time.

We are encouraging all students and parents to walk or bike to and from school, rain or shine, and refrain from driving.  Not withstanding all of the health benefits from walking or biking, this will greatly alleviate the congestion of vehicles in and around the school during arrival and dismissal times. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact the school.

We look forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday, September 4th.
