Dear FDK Parents!

It has been an exciting first week of school and I trust that your children are beginning to settle into the school

We are asking for your help to establish some outdoor routines so that we can better transition the students both before school and after school. In the morning when you arrive, please let your children go to the class line on their own. The families whose children are in Rooms 1, 3, 5 are asked to wait on the sidewalk. The families whose children are in Rooms 2, 4, 11 are asked to wait on the far side next to the field. This will help to reduce the congestion and helps staff know where to look when dismissing students. We are finding that it is too congested when you are with your children in the lines. You may observe them from a distance entering into the building. This will help foster some independence and trust as well as allowing the teachers to bring the children into the school more quickly and safely.

When you come to pick up your children at the end of the day, we ask you to wait in the same areas. When the students come outside, teachers will dismiss students one at a time, once they see that a parent/caregiver has arrived. Your child will come to you once the teacher sees you. Please don’t go to him/her. Again, this will help get your child to you more quickly and safely.

With these simple routines and your cooperation, we hope to make these routines a positive experience for everyone.
