Learn All About Inquiry and Project Based Learning
Thursday, November 30, 2017
6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Gym
We are planning to hold a parent information night on the the topic of inquiry and Project Based Learning.  All parents are invited to learn more about what inquiry and project based learning is as well as understanding why this approach to learning is benefiting and preparing our students for the future.  We will also have 10 different activities set up in the school for parents to experience what their children are learning.  Although the children may participate, we want the parents to engage in the activities so that they have a better appreciation about what their children are learning.  In each activity, there will be a staff member to facilitate the activity and speak to how the activity relates to the cross curricular expectations of the Ontario curriculum and how we are assessing the students.  In addition, parents will also learn how the global competencies and skills that we are teaching the students are preparing them for the work force when they leave for their post secondary destination.
Agenda for the Evening
6:00 p.m. – Mr. Tinnes to provide a presentation on Inquiry and Project Based Learning (PBL).  There will also be a teacher and a couple of students who will be sharing their experiences with inquiry and PBL.
6:30 – 8:00 p.m. – Parents will go to the various booths in the gym, music room and Learning Commons to participate and experience inquiry activities.
